Next Session - March 26th - 4pm-6pm

What is Messy Church?

Messy Church is our new monthly service at St Thomas's. It is especially suited to families with primary school aged children, but is open for all! Adults and children enjoy the activities together, and there will be activities suitable babies, toddlers and older children as well.

Messy Church uses hands-on activities to explore Bible stories, to reflect a God of creativity and to give people a chance to play together. It reflects a God of joy who wants his people to have life in all its fullness.

Messy Church is part of The Bible Reading Fellowship (BRF), a Registered Charity. www.brf.org.uk

What happens during a Messy Church session?

There will be lots of crafty activities set up when you arrive at 4pm, and we spend the first hour getting stuck in! All the activities will be based on the theme of the session. Some will be for you to take home, some are based around food, some will be very messy (so wear old clothes!) and one will be a joint craft that will stay in church.

At 5pm we'll stop the activities and gather for a time of celebration and worship. This short 15 minute service will explore the day's theme a bit more and we will all pray together. And we won't forget to sing a couple of songs too!

After the celebration we sit down together to eat! A vegetarian meal will be provided for adults and children and we can continue to discuss the theme, or just get to know one another.

How much does it cost?

It's all free! Though of course, there will be an opportunity to make a donation if you want to.

Do I need to tell you we're coming?

You can just turn up on the day. If you know you're planning on coming though, it would be helpful for us to get an idea of numbers to make sure we have enough food, allow for special dietary requirements, and just to help us generally plan the session. If anyone in your group has any accessibility requirements, you can let us know too so we can make sure the crafts are accessible to all. You can register your interest by clicking the button below.

Can I leave my children and pick them up later?

Unfortunately not. Messy Church is designed for adults and children to take part in together, so you will need to stay with anyone under 18.
