We believe that we are all created in the image of God, and as such, the image of God is to be safeguarded in all. It is especially important that the image of God is protected in those who may be less able to discern where others may abuse and mar that image.

We take the safeguarding of children, young people, and vulnerable adults seriously at St Thomas's. We adopt the House of Bishops' safeguarding policy 'Promoting a Safer Church', and have a Church Safeguarding Officer (CSO) is Cassie Dummett, and the Children's Champion is Rose Fraser. Their contact details can be found in the 'Contact' tab.

The Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor is Joanne Bingham. She can be contacted on:

Safeguarding is a responsibility for us all, so if you have any concerns, please speak to the Priest-in-Charge or the CSO. If you have concerns that a child or adult is in immediate danger, call the police on 999.

We are aware that the church holds within its communities many survivors of abuse. Any disclosures made to the Vicar or CSO will be taken seriously and dealt with appropriately.

Below you will find the contact details of other agencies and helplines, as well as a copy of our signed statement adopting 'Promoting a Safer Church.'
