St Thomas’ Blackpool - "Sharing God's Love"

Welcome,

Many people find the church very puzzling. I do hope that you will find this website helpful.
Being a Christian is not simply a matter of attending church each Sunday - it is about our relationship with God and because of that we want to worship Him and serve Him. Many people come to church wanting to find out more about this 'relationship' - please ask us and we'll chat to you about it and give you one of our booklets.
Most people who come to church want to 'belong' to the church and grow in their faith and in service of Christ. We are all different in temperament and the amount of time which we have but the following areas are important as a guide for those who want to be part of the life of the church:- Regular (i.e. weekly) worship, being part of a small group for fellowship, prayerfully supporting the work and leadership of the church, finding an area of 'service' of others and regular and realistic giving to the work of the church.
If you have any questions about the church or what is written on this website, don`t hesitate to get in touch with me. May the Lord bless you. George A Fisher

Sharing God's Love

St. Thomas' is an Anglican church (Church of England) and the reason we are here is to "Share God's Love".

We base our beliefs and teaching on the Bible, have lively and meaningful worship blending the old and the new, and are a friendly, caring family.

Services

We are a seven days a week church with lots of activities, as you will see from this website. But let's start with Sunday services. We have five to choose from (listed on the right), each with a different emphasis, although many members come to more than one.

We try to keep a balance between the old and the new, singing the good old traditional hymns as well as many of the new worship songs.

In the 9.30 a.m. we follow the Church of England orders of service, although this is fairly flexible. Our 11.15 a.m. service is for all ages and welcomes children. Christenings take place in this service on the last Sunday of the month. The 6.00pm service is more flexible in structure and open to the gifts of the Holy Spirit. At 6.00 we also have a service called "Xlt" for school years 7-11 in The Underground (youth area).

In addition to these services each Wednesday at 11.00 a.m. we have a traditional communion service following the Book of Common Prayer. This service is in the Church, followed by Munch in the Parish Centre.
